Swinging Water Bucket

The swinging water bucket demonstrates the forces in circular motion: a plastic bucket is partially filled with water and the demonstrator swings the bucket and contents overhead fast enough so that the force of gravity acting on the water is less than the centripetal force provided by arm and bucket. If not, the demonstrator gets wet, to the amusement of the audience. For the faint of heart, a tennis ball may be substituted for the water.
